Online Math Academy + Coaching

Deepen content knowledge and instructional practices to activate students’ reasoning and thinking when engaging in math tasks.

Academy Overview

CORE’s Online Math Academy (OMA) includes five courses that support educators in developing a deeper understanding of the K–5 mathematical content and pedagogy that leads to student proficiency with early number sense and fractions. These courses enhance participants’ understanding of concept connections, link physical and visual models to operations, and provide strategies for addressing misconceptions.

These asynchronous, interactive courses include various activities, such as videos of student learning, self-reflection, and discussion boards to share ideas with colleagues. To support participants’ learning, each OMA course includes virtual cohort coaching and progress monitoring.

By Participating, Educators Will:

  • Recognize that how students learn and work with math has a strong impact on what they learn about math.
  • Connect mathematical representations (concrete, visual/representational/pictorial, and abstract) to develop understanding of concepts and procedures.
  • Learn strategies to address common misconceptions.
  • Connect course resources, ideas, and activities to your own classroom practice.

97% of OMA participants indicated that the course exceeded or met their expectations.

OMA Features

Virtual Cohort Coaching

During each course, participants meet with their OMA facilitator four times. These virtual, synchronous coaching sessions allow teachers to discuss and collaborate on key ideas from the course and how to apply them to their teaching.

Teacher Progress Monitoring

Throughout each course, district contacts will receive progress monitoring reports and direct communication with a CORE client manager so that they can support their teachers in engaging in and completing the course.
