Arantxa Alvarez is an Educational Services Consultant with CORE. She has spent 20 years in education serving as a teacher, math coach, instructional coach, and new teacher coach in several large San Francisco Bay Area districts, as well as Director of Math and Science for a CMO serving six schools across TK-8 in Oakland. Having started her career as a bilingual teacher, her
coaching broadens teachers’ and leaders’ understanding of how best to serve all students as English language learners.
Arantxa centers the humanity of the children and adults in the building in her work, continually working to spark joy in math teachers and learners. To maximize transformative changes to our educational system, she also supervises and mentors teacher candidates at the University of San Francisco and St. Mary’s College. She is passionate about helping educators understand the shifts in the Common Core standards, as they move past teaching mathematics and work towards raising mathematicians.
