Dr. Brandi Johnson Kent is an Educational Consultant with CORE. A Louisiana native, Brandi began her career as an elementary teacher, progressing to roles as a grade-level team leader and instructional coach. Her passion for education led her to transition into higher education, where she served as Program Director and Assistant Professor of Practice for an Educator Preparation Program and Graduate School. In this role, she managed multiple educator certification programs and built strategic partnerships with K–12 schools in Orleans Parish.
Dr. Johnson is an Educational Consultant who provides school leaders with data-driven, strategic instructional feedback and professional development for teachers focused on literacy initiatives. She is committed to helping teachers develop the skills they need to create positive, lasting change for students.
Dr. Johnson holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Louisiana, Lafayette, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Dallas Baptist University, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California. Her dissertation, which focused on early childhood teachers’ well-being, offered valuable insights into how teacher well-being impacts student outcomes and key stakeholders while also examining the influence of school and organizational climate on teachers’ experiences.
A passionate advocate for systemic change in education, Dr. Johnson dedicates herself to addressing the challenges contributing to predictable educational outcomes for students of color. She also champions initiatives prioritizing teacher well-being, especially in marginalized communities with high teacher turnover rates. Looking ahead, Dr. Johnson aims to expand wellness programs and resources to support families and communities most impacted by these challenges.
