Julie Holiday is an Educational Services Consultant with CORE. Julie is an experienced special educator with extensive expertise in literacy assessment, instruction, and interventions. With over 10 years as a district administrator, she has most recently served as Director for Special Education in Academy School District 20 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Julie received her Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Special Education and Elementary Education at Rutgers University. She earned her Master’s degree and her Administrative credentials at University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS). Julie has served on several Colorado Department of Education initiatives, including training teachers to deliver multisensory reading instruction; serving as a Reading First consultant and coach; training regionally as a Colorado LETRS Trainer (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling). Additionally, she is a trainer for DIBELS, Woodcock Johnson III – Achievement Tests, ParaReading., and Aimsweb. Julie has served as adjunct faculty for Adams State College Extended Studies and for the Teacher in Residence Program at UCCS. Julie has authored and administered six largescale regional grant projects with emphasis on multisensory reading instruction and on instructional coaching practices.
Now semi-retired, Julie lives in Helena, Montana with her husband, two dogs, 14 chickens and 2 Peking ducks. Her personal interests include travel, snorkeling, kayaking, gardening and spending time at the family cabin alongside a scenic river in Montana.
