Katherine Lydum-Fleener

Educational Consultant — Literacy, K–6

Katherine Lydum-Fleener is an Educational Consultant with CORE. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Oregon and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from George Mason University. Katherine is a veteran educator with more than thirty years of experience as a teacher, administrator, and reading interventionist.

In her role as Program Director at Reading Results, Katherine led strategic initiatives to develop and refine an evidence-based program for students and professional development for tutors to provide individualized, culturally responsive Tier 2 and 3 reading intervention in over 20 school communities. In addition, Katherine served as a program reviewer and auditor for over ten years for the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), reviewing the design, delivery, data, and interpretation of hundreds of assessments from teacher preparation programs. This work emphasizes Katherine’s commitment to continuous improvement to strengthen student learning.

Additionally, Katherine has worked with teachers and students from all over the world in both public, private, and multilingual schools. She is a first-grade teacher at heart and is passionate about ensuring that all children have quality experiences and opportunities to become skilled readers.
