TaWanna Scott
Educational Consultant — Math, Middle & High School
TaWanna Scott is an Educational Services Consultant at CORE. With 20+ years of experience in education, TaWanna has received numerous accolades and recognition for her success as both a 6-8 mathematics classroom teacher and professor at the collegiate level. She has had the pleasure of serving as a mentor teacher, school-level, educational coach, department chair, and a district-level leader within Charlotte-Mecklenberg Schools. She has helped to develop curriculum, design standards-aligned assessments, and support the continuance of educator growth via the delivery of applicable, job-embedded professional learning opportunities for secondary educators and leaders. Understanding the diverse needs of each student, TaWanna notes her greatest career accomplishment is being able to journey alongside her students post-graduation and witness the collective educational deposits that have defied what her students originally thought was possible. Therefore, it is not surprising that her role as a Multi-Tiered System of Supports Specialist (MTSS) amplifies this work by ensuring that every student, every day has access to a high-quality education and an opportunity to participate via the development of differentiated, learner-centered entry points.
TaWanna is passionate about partnering with teachers and leaders to ensure that students have the best individuals in front of them. As an educational coach she believes that, by creating the right instructional conditions, students will surpass their expectations of who they are currently and who they dreamed they would become in the future. The span of her life’s work, in education, has centered on student agency and collective educator agency — the shared belief and trust that educators can achieve instructional outcomes for all students.
In her spare time, TaWanna enjoys cultivating community by spending time with family and close friends as well as creating moments that will far exceed these tangible, physical spaces.
